A Masked Vigilante Rises in a City of Secrets
The shadows are stirring. The Vermillion Mask, the high-octane action manga by Akihiro Ononaka, is officially getting an anime adaptation. Kadokawa made the announcement on Saturday, accompanied by a bold new visual and a teaser celebrating the masked antihero’s jump from page to screen.
Packed with gritty action, political intrigue, and the mysterious rise of a vigilante hero, The Vermillion Mask is expected to be one of the standout dark action series of 2025.
Story Synopsis
In a crime-ridden metropolis ruled by powerful syndicates and corrupt elites, hope is a rare commodity. But when a mysterious figure clad in a crimson mask begins targeting the city’s worst offenders, the public takes notice—and the underground begins to panic.
The masked vigilante, known only as “Vermillion,” leaves behind no clues except for his iconic calling card and a sense of brutal justice. As police, politicians, and criminals alike try to unmask the identity behind the hero—or villain—of the night, alliances shift, secrets unravel, and a city on the brink of collapse finds itself caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Main Characters
Vermillion (Real Name Unknown)
A masked figure who operates outside the law, Vermillion strikes fear into the hearts of the corrupt. With a code rooted in vengeance and redemption, he uses high-tech weaponry and stealth tactics to dismantle the syndicates from the shadows.
Detective Hoshino
One of the few clean officers left in the city. Hoshino walks the thin line between admiration and duty as she leads the task force hunting Vermillion. Driven by justice but haunted by her past, her investigation may expose secrets that go beyond the vigilante’s identity.
