Story Synopsis

Set in Edo-period Japan, Shabake mixes folklore and mystery by following a young protagonist who can see—and interact with—supernatural beings known as “yōkai.”

Originally a popular novel series by Megumi Hatakenaka, it has already inspired manga and a short-form anniversary animation. Now, the long-awaited TV anime is arriving, providing both newcomers and longtime fans with a richly animated dive into its magical, historical world.
