Fans of Girls Band Cry have reason to celebrate: aside from the two previously announced compilation films, the franchise is now getting a brand-new, original movie that will continue the story. This isn’t just a recap — it’s the next chapter.

Story Synopsis

The anime Girls Band Cry debuted in April 2024 and follows Nina Iseri, who drops out of high school and relocates to Tokyo to carve out her own life. There, she meets Momoka Kawaragi, her musical idol, and soon the two decide to form a band. They recruit three more girls — each dealing with their own challenges — to become Togenashi Togeari, pouring their hearts into music as they navigate friendship, ambition, and creative struggle.

On September 23, 2025, it was revealed that the series will not only get two compilation films but also a completely new sequel film.

  • The sequel film is distinct from the compilation films — it’s designed to advance the story.
