The romantic comedy phenomenon The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You (known to fans as 100 Kanojo) is officially returning for a third season. The announcement comes after months of fan speculation and record viewership from its previous two runs.
This continuation ensures that Rentarō Aijō’s outrageous love story — and the ever-expanding “Rentarō Family” — will keep winning hearts (and laughs) well into 2026.
Story Synopsis
Based on the manga by Rikito Nakamura and illustrated by Yukiko Nozawa, The 100 Girlfriends follows the life of Rentarō Aijō, a high schooler cursed and blessed by fate. After 100 failed romances, the God of Love reveals that Rentarō is destined to meet 100 true soulmates — but if he rejects any of them, they’ll die.
Determined to protect them all, Rentarō takes on the impossible task of loving every one of his girlfriends equally. What begins as an absurd setup quickly evolves into one of anime’s most chaotic yet heartfelt romantic comedies.

Season 1 aired in late 2023, introducing the concept and first few girlfriends. Season 2 followed in early 2025, expanding both the cast and the emotional stakes. The third season, announced in October 2025, promises to push this bizarrely wholesome premise even further.

Character / Key Figure Summaries
Rentarō Aijō
The eternal romantic at the story’s center, Rentarō is cursed to love all 100 of his destined partners or risk their deaths. His compassion, honesty, and chaotic determination to make everyone happy make him one of anime’s most uniquely absurd protagonists.
Hakari Hanazono & Karane Inda
Rentarō’s first two girlfriends — the heart of the series’ opening act. Hakari’s sweet, affectionate nature contrasts with Karane’s fiery temper, but both remain unwaveringly loyal. Their acceptance of Rentarō’s growing list of girlfriends sets the tone for the show’s wild yet surprisingly wholesome energy.
