Kyoto Animation is back with a brand-new project — and this one is charged with ambition.
The studio behind Violet Evergarden and A Silent Voice has officially unveiled its next original TV anime, Sparks of Tomorrow, a story about invention, faith, and the spark of progress in an alternate-era Japan. For fans of emotional storytelling and breathtaking animation, this marks the studio’s next creative milestone.

Story Synopsis

Sparks of Tomorrow adapts the acclaimed light novel 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku (20th Century Electricity Catalog) by Hiro Yūki, illustrated by Kazumi Ikeda.

Set in an alternate-history Kyoto during the early 1900s, the story follows Kihachi Sakamoto, a young inventor once filled with dreams of an electrified age, and Inako Momokawa, a girl burdened by tradition and duty. Together, they search for a mysterious book said to hold the key to the future of energy — and perhaps to their own self-discovery.

Originally published in 2018, the novel was long rumored to be adapted by Kyoto Animation. Now, after years of anticipation, the studio has finally confirmed that Sparks of Tomorrow will bring its timeless themes of hope, ambition, and technological wonder to television audiences.
