Magic School Meets Feline Attitude in Upcoming Adaptation

Fans of whimsical magic and sarcastic talking cats have something to look forward to. Yosuke Kaneda, the creator of Boarding School Juliet, will see his latest manga, The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch (Kuroneko to Mahō no Kyōshitsu), adapted into a TV anime set to premiere in 2026.

The announcement was made by Kodansha on August 5, accompanied by a celebratory illustration from Kaneda. With its unique blend of fantasy, humor, and character-driven storytelling, the series is expected to appeal to fans of magical school settings with a twist.

Story Synopsis

The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch follows the story of Spica, a young witch attending a prestigious magic academy. Despite her talent, she’s constantly overshadowed by others—until she encounters Nero, a mysterious talking black cat with a bad attitude and a hidden past.

Combining heartfelt coming-of-age themes with sharp comedy and fantasy action, the story brings fresh energy to the magic school genre.
